Robot Music!!
Well today marks the last Saturday of the summer for myself and many others. Soon we will be going back to the books, meet new people, and party way too much. So when you find yourself in need of a song or two to play, given different situations, have no fear because these following songs will help.
So you are at the big house party of the night and tons of people are there. Somehow you get the DJ rights for a few moments before the classic drunk girl comes up and demands that Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, or Rhianna be played. Well in that instance you need to find something party worthy that isn’t the same song that has been played over and over again. I have here a few mashups that I find go over really well in party situations, enjoy.
Someone block you on facebook? Here’s one by DJ Strongarm that uses the sample from Knife Party’s “Internet Friends” and is stylistically similar to Girl Talk (lots of song samples).
This next tune you may have to evaluate the people that are partying with you. If you know they are into electronic music than this is a great tune. If they aren’t as familiar it may be tougher to pull off but it’s worth the risk. It starts off slowly, but like I said if they know electronic music they will know what is coming. Paired up in this one is Deadmau5 and The S.
Let’s say you need something more recognizable. This next tune features Axwell and Coldplay so if they don’t recognize the background beat they won’t miss the vocals of “Paradise”.
Alright, well it happened. The females of the party got angry and want to hear Rihanna! They won’t stop until their music is played! So to shut them up I have remixes that I have always relied on and I think they will work well for you as well.
First up is an extremely popular song remixed by a popular progressive/electro house producer. Here is Hardwell’s take on “Where have you been”.
Let’s say that only worked for a brief period of time and they still are nagging you for another track. Well then, you should dig deep for last years Rihanna hit “We Found Love” and look for the remix by Tommy Love.
Need someone else other than Rihanna? Why not Zoidberg? But seriously, what if you need another hit artist to play between Rihanna? Well here’s an awesome remix of “Some Nights” by Fun., done by the progressive house producer Jakob Liedholm.
Now let’s say the party dies down a little bit but your bros/a few women that you know are still there enjoying themselves. If you know that they happen to enjoy electronic music that’s when you pull out the heavy hitters and impress them with your vast knowledge of dubstep/glitch hop. First up you get glitchy with this new tune “Shake the Room” by Savant.
Next you may want to get dirty and pull out the new dubstep songs. Here we have “Bullet Train” by Stephan Swartz featuring Joni Fatora. It’s not the in your face song you may have expected but it’s still a great track.
But let’s say you did want a “in your face” piece of filth. Then I may suggest “Drops” by MIA (Melodies Influencing Actions). It starts off smooth but give it a minute and it lives up to it’s name with a plethora of heavy hitting drops.
Wrapping up this back to school edition this tune has quite the “fat bass”. At the beginning you will feel the off beat piano that will lay the foundation for the funky feel throughout the entire song.
