Wavves – “Hippies Is Punks”
I’ve loved Wavves since the first time I heard their rough-and-tumble indie rock sound, so I’m delighted to share this new track with you guys. Their upcoming (currently untitled) LP is expected out early 2013. In the meantime, it sounds like frontman Nathan Williams has a ton on his plate. The band recently contributed this track to Adult Swim‘s Singles Programs. Not sure if we will see it on the new album, but I like the direction regardless. About that new album, it sounds as if their process was pretty amazing (according to Williams’ Twitter):
“Been working on these songs for so long…kinda nervous. Throughout the whole creative process there was no label involvement. John, Stephen and I payed for the record ourselves. We had no time limit, no person telling us we needed a single. Once we were done we took it around and let labels listen to and bid on a finished product. 100% ours, no changes. The music business is so much different now and that shouldn’t have to be a bad thing.”
