Dirty Projectors – “Dance For You”
With an alluring walking guitar part, and steady stream of hand claps driving it, “Dance For You,” from the Dirty Projectors upcoming LP Swing Lo Magellan, is great good-mood music. A relaxed attitude and warm vocals keep the song inviting before a dramatic musical turn breaks it all up halfway through the song. Worthy of a theatrical production, the hand claps and guitar exit and in comes a bevy of swelling synths and organs. Just when the song sounds like it’s about to take it’s next musical detour, the hand claps surge back, the walking guitar sings out in solo, and your’e right back where you started.
