The Tribe and Big Cats! – “Pills”
Today, The Tribe & Big Cats! announced their new album Space to be released on 7/10. The album was recorded over a two week period at Waterbury Studios in NE Minneapolis. “P.I.L.L.S,” the first single off of the album, is currently available for free via the band’s website. The duo recently took the stage at this year’s Soundset Festival and were undoubtedly highlight performers on the Fifth Element stage. An album release show is scheduled for 7/14 at First Avenue’s 7th Street Entry and will feature performances by F.Stokes, Meta, and a DJ sets by Get Cryphy DJ, Jimmy 2 Times. Look out for more TTxBC tour dates to be announced soon.
The Tribe and Big Cats! are a Minneapolis-based rap group consisting of Truthbetold (Chris Hooks – MC) and Big Cats! (Spencer Wirth-David – Producer). Playing extensively both locally and regionally, The Tribe and Big Cats! have steadily been winning fans over with their highly energetic performances. TruthBeTold and Big Cats’ backgrounds couldn’t be more different. TruthBeTold grew up on the south side of Chicago, where his uncle made him start rapping at age 6; Big Cats grew up in the suburbs of St. Paul, where he studied classical music and played in garage bands. After a move from Chicago to the Twin Cities, and from classical to hip hop, TruthBeTold and Big Cats found themselves in similar situations, both trying to make a name in the Minneapolis rap scene. They linked up in 2008 at the Dinkytowner and immediately started working together as The Tribe & Big Cats! (TTxBC).

Lately, we’ve seen a new-school of rappers, such as MaLLy and TTxBC redefine the Minneapolis “sound.” It will be exciting to hear the full album, and view the videos that come along with it. We’re not sure what they’ll be about, but the word “Tanks” was mentioned multiple times. Be on the lookout for more from these guys soon.
