Cam Meekins – “Two Roads”

At 19 years old, Boston rapper Cam Meekins has already done a lot. I mean, he’s 19 and he’s releasing his first full-length album, :) :/ :( (Probably more of a mixtape, but Cam prefers it be called and album). Mr. Meekins boasts a unique style of rap for backpackers and is dedicated to staying true to himself based on a strong hatred for selling out. On the particular track highlighted below, Cam uses a jazzy piano sample from a Thelonius Monk song, “I’m Confessin’ (That I Love You). It differs from the rest of the album on a few fronts as a light-hearted and introspective track. It’s my favorite. The rest of the album is definitely worth a listen, namely for a spin on Gotye’s blockbuster, “Somebody That I Used To Know”.
