No! Despite whatever your illegally downloaded version of “Higher Love” tells you, it is not by Phil Collins. It is by Steve Winwood. This particular version is much quieter and by someone entirely different from both aforementioned artists, James Vincent McMorrow. JMM puts his own simple, folky spin on the 1986 smash hit and I’m not sure I’m absolutely crazy about it, but I certainly appreciate the interpretation. Especially considering it’s transformation from heavily-produced, joyous pop celebration to a breathy vocal track accompanied only by a piano creating a entirely different semblance to the track.
