MUMFORD & SONS
(Folk)
My oh my, I love these guys. Mumford & Sons recently played at the legendary Coachella and during their glorious time on stage played a new song. That’s right folks, a new song teeming with passion and ending in an eruption of molten folk. It’s called “Lover’s Eyes” and we’ve got the live version from Coachella below just for you. Enjoy!
matt pond PA
(Indie Rock/Pop)
matt pond PA may be a band you’ve heard of before or they may not be. Also, that sentence may or may not have been the most ambiguous sentence I have written. That aside, these guys probably had biggest moment in the limelight during the OC era of ‘indie’ music. Lucky for use, their popularity is not directly correlated with the quality of their music. This cut, of their newest EP, is quite sexy. The same unique voice, simple instrumental arrangement, and lyrical perspective long-time fans have loved are back with enough of a twist for it to feel fresh. Take a listen below, become a fan, and support the band!
BECCA STEVENS
(Cover)
Animal Collective, best of MTIB alum, has kind of disappeared for awhile, and this song, unfortunately, is not their return to the blogosphere. BUT it is an opportunity to refresh your palette for their return, which is hopefully soon. Becca Stevens has, with a beautiful voice a little bit of polka and a whole lot of folk covered the quintessential Animal Collective track, “My Girls”. I love it. I hope you do too. Support Becca Stevens by checking out her new album, Weightless, maybe even go buy it on iTunes. NPR is raving about it, so it’s gotta be good.
